War of attrition
At this point, I’m not going to go into a lengthily commentary regarding the war in Iran beyond noting its current, and probably brief, status as a war of attrition. The Trump administration is waiting out Iran’s looming lack of resolve. No matter how committed factions in the country may be, there is only so much relentless bombardment they can endure. As for their goal of strategic patience, they know that if they wait long enough, weak-willed elements in the United States will give in and give up. This is particularly true in regard to America’s mid-term elections. Like all of America’s enemies, Iran knows that Democrats with increased authority is good for them.
While a dishonest media continually seeks to to paint the mission as lacking any goals, the goals have always been made clear. “Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon or delivery systems. Cannot continue their role as a state sponsor or terrorism, and — now — leaving the Strait of Hormuz open to unmolested access.”
While leftists and media outlets continually attack Trump,for “starting an unneccessary war” there’s an odd lack of questions as to why Iran can’t simply commit to not developing nuclear weapons, not supporting terror, and leaving commerce to freely move through the straits? Is this really too much to demand?
The totalitarian theocracy could have saved themselves from a lot of destruction had they simply approved a reasonable deal to be more like the UAE (for example) and less like North Korea.
